Revitalized Medvedev Wins First Championship in Over Two Years

19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four early break points in a close final set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
